Concluding Symposium of the Project WIMO
In view of the EU legislation on the assessment of environmental states of the marine environment, the joint research project WIMO has been developing innovative scientific monitoring concepts for the model region German Bight. Important issues of marine monitoring have been explored and methods have been provided for exploring seabed habitats, detecting and analysing the dynamics of suspended matter as well as forming a comprehensive representation and assessment of biodiversity, sensitivity to oil and eutrophication. Conventional sampling and measurements in situ have been combined with modern remote sensing techniques and were complemented by integrative modeling approaches.
The WIMO project is now concluding and will present the results to the community. The aim of the Symposium is to discuss scientific and practical results with colleagues from science and administration. All individual projects will report on their scientific results and a poster session will present the derived monitoring concepts.
Here you find the provisional programme, which will be updated continuously.
