Marine Litter in European Seas: Social Awareness and Co-Responsibility

The pollution of the seas through the input of litter is a growing, worldwide problem. The goal of MARLISCO is to increase societal awareness of the ecological and economic problems of marine litter and thereby influence societal decisions and behaviors in favor of better marine stewardship. In addition to the coordinating group Provincia di Teramo, EUCC-D is working alongside 18 partners from 15 countries.

Tasks of the EUCC-Germany: Design and development of a public web portal with information and stakeholder decisions on marine litter, research into current strategies of litter avoidance, development of educational offerings, organization of workshops as well as the organization of a video competition on the topic of “marine litter.”
